CBD, or cannabidiol, is a non-psychoactive compound found in the hemp plant that is known for its potential health benefits. The popularity of CBD products has been on the rise in recent years, with more and more people using it for various reasons such as pain relief, anxiety, and sleep disorders. However, as the CBD industry continues to grow, it is becoming increasingly difficult for consumers to know which products are of high quality and which ones are not. In this blog post, we will discuss how to find high-quality CBD products and what to look for when buying pure natural CBD. What Are The Different Types Of CBD Products Available And Which One Is Best For My Needs? One of the first things to understand when shopping for pure natural CBD products is the different types of products available. CBD can be found in a variety of forms such as oils, capsules, gummies, topical, and more. Each form has its own set of pros and cons, and it is important to choose the one that best suits your needs. For example, if you are looking for a fast-acting form of CBD, then oils or tinctures may be the best option. These products are typically taken under the tongue, and the CBD is absorbed quickly into the bloodstream. On the other hand, if you are looking for a longer-lasting form of CBD, then capsules or gummies may be a better choice. These products are metabolized by the liver and have a longer-lasting effect. How Do I Check The CBD And THC Content Of A Product? When shopping for CBD products, it is important to check the CBD content of the product. This information can typically be found on the product label or on the company's website. The CBD content will be listed in milligrams (mg) and it is important to know the total CBD content of the product as well as the amount of CBD per serving. It is also important to check the THC content of the product. THC is the psychoactive compound found in cannabis and is responsible for the "high" feeling associated with marijuana. While CBD products typically contain very little THC, it is still important to make sure the product you are buying is within the legal limit of 0.3% THC. What Is Third-Party Lab Testing And Why Is It Important When Shopping For CBD Products? Another important factor to consider when shopping for pure natural CBD products is whether or not the product has been third-party lab tested. Third-party lab testing is a process where an independent lab tests the product to ensure that it contains the amount of CBD and THC that is claimed on the label. This is important because it ensures that the product is safe and free of any contaminants. When looking for third-party lab testing, you should look for a certificate of analysis (COA) that includes the following information:
How Can I Determine If A Brand Is Reputable And Produces High-Quality CBD Products? When buying pure natural CBD products, it is important to choose a reputable brand. A reputable brand will typically have a good reputation in the industry and will use high-quality ingredients in their products. They will also be transparent about their manufacturing processes and will have third-party lab testing readily available. One way to find a reputable brand is to do some research online. Look for reviews of the brand and its products, and check to see if they have any certifications or awards. You can also look for brands that are members of industry organizations such as the Hemp Industries Association or the National Hemp Association. Are There Any Certifications or Awards That Indicate A Product Is High-Quality? Yes, there are certifications and awards that can indicate a product is high-quality. Some examples include:
Are There Any Industry Organizations That Can Help Me Find Reputable CBD Brands? Yes, there are several industry organizations that can help you find reputable pure natural CBD brands. Some examples include:
These organizations can provide you with a list of reputable brands that have agreed to adhere to strict guidelines for quality, purity, and potency. What Are The Red Flags To Look Out For When Buying CBD Products? When buying 100% pure CBD products, it is important to be aware of red flags that may indicate a product is not high quality or safe. Some red flags to look out for include:
Keep in mind that not all of these red flags necessarily mean a product is unsafe or ineffective, but it's always good to exercise caution and do your own research before making a purchase. Are There Any Regulations In Place To Ensure The Quality Of CBD Products? Currently, the regulation of pure natural CBD products is still in a state of flux. The FDA has not yet established specific regulations for CBD products, and the agency has issued warning letters to companies that make false or misleading claims about their products. The FDA also warns consumers about the potential risks of using CBD products, such as the potential for liver injury, interactions with other medications, and the possibility of contamination with THC. The FDA has also issued guidance on the sale of pure natural CBD products, stating that products that contain CBD cannot be sold as dietary supplements, and any food or beverage that contains CBD must be approved by the FDA before it can be sold. The 2018 Farm Bill legalized hemp-derived CBD with less than 0.3% THC, but it left the regulation of CBD products to the states and the FDA. As a result, some states have implemented their own regulations on the sale and labeling of CBD products. However, the regulations vary from state to state and are not always consistent. It is important to note that in absence of specific regulations and standards, the quality of pure natural CBD products can vary widely. It is important to be vigilant and do your own research before purchasing any CBD product. Also, keep in mind that since CBD is not yet a FDA-approved drug, some products may not have all the information you need, and some of the information may not be accurate, so always be vigilant and do your own research.

The CBD Isolate from Green Method Farms is crashed from our distillate and is extremely pure and white. Honestly, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to farm hemp on a large scale. You need the capital and the equipment to pull it off, and most anyone can figure that part out.
But what you do in the last 6-8 weeks is critical. As I observe all the hemp farms in our region, I’m starting to believe that many farmers did not have a plan. What really matters, is how you finish the season. These plants need to be dried properly and shucked properly. It appears many new farmers did not consider this part. Probably expecting it to all work out in the end. What happens when the weather doesn’t cooperate? Do you have a plan B or plan C? In our region, there are farms with hemp plants cut in the field and just laying in piles…in the rain. Not good. And the other thing that puzzles me is how farmers will farm this crop with no-one to sell it to. Right now there are millions and millions of pounds of biomass available, and not enough processors to process it. So there will be thousands of farmers around the country that did all this work for nothing, because they didn’t have an end game plan. Their plants molded, or they had a successful crop with no one to buy it. Rant over. Let’s focus on the positive. For us, we cut the majority of our plants at the beginning of October. We hung about 9000 plants in the barn, and field dried about 1500. We picked a pretty good window of opportunity for field drying and those plants are already dry, combined, and in bags in the processing facility. I have been told they will be processed into oil next week. It took about 9 days to hang 9000 plants. It was a lot of work. We used bailing twine, and hung plants from the rafters to the ground. The barn is packed. The plants have been in the barn for about 20 days, and are really close to where we need them to be. We tested the moisture levels yesterday, and they are around 10%, so we plan on combining those plants this weekend. It is a really good feeling as we see the fruits of our labor safely in bags and shipped off to be processed. At that time, we know we did everything we could do, and it is our of our hands. Really good feeling. The hemp plant is hearty to be sure. But none of us were ready for what would happen the evening of August 9th. Summer storms in Central Oregon are to be expected. The temperature was in the low 90’s earlier in the week. While I believed the forecast that predicted a storm, I did not believe that it would hail. Sure enough, around 6pm, I got a call from Albert. He reported that it had begun hailing. Not just a little hail…a downpour of quarter sized hail. My heart sunk. We had been planning and working toward this goal for the better part of a year. Could it all be ruined in a matter of 5 minutes? I went to the farm on Saturday morning to see the destruction. 50-80% of leaves on the ground. The stems were busted and beat up. We even found a jack rabit dead in the rows. He must have got pelted too many times in the head, or drown in the flash flood. The plants did not look the same. So Albert and I began the day the way we began several days. With prayer. And I remembered the verse from the book of Johan (Johan 1:17) that said, “Now the LORD provided a huge fish to swallow Jonah…” So I prayed that verse over our field. That what looked like the end, would end up being a provision from God.
I know being swallowed by a big fish was not part of Jonah’s plan for the day. But it was God’s. And while we knew all along that farming hemp came with great risk, the hail storm was not part of our plan for that day. But it was God’s. So we put our trust in him, expecting that the hail storm was a provision for reasons we may not understand. It has only been a week since the hail, but I can say that there is a lot of new growth, and flowers are budding. Ya, they are still pretty beat up, but this isnt the end. They look like Nate Diaz after a fight; pretty beat up, but you haven’t seen the last of them. Work smarter not harder! Sometimes it is easier said than done. But after spending 14 man hours spraying each individual plant, Albert (GMF co-owner) went to work. He’s an innovator. He will find a better way.
So let me tell you about this contraption. In order to shorten the width of the 3 wheeler, we drilled new holes in wheels that came off of a honda civic. This bought us about 6” on each side so that we could ride down the rows without any problem. Then he loaded the tank on the back of the 3-wheeler, build arms that would extend the sprayers over the plants, and hooked up a pump, so we can just flip the spray switch. 14 man hours into 3. Every farm needs an Albert! There are many reasons we decided to farm hemp this year. Most of those reasons probably match your reasons; medicine, money…the love for the plant.
But one of my motivating factors was to help make my boys men. You see, I (Dustin) have two boys; 13 and 11. They are really great kids. For the most part, they do what they are told, behave respectfully, and are just all around good kids. One of the problems you see more and more, is that some of the younger generation just hasn’t been taught how to work hard, and take pride in their work. For me, I see farming hemp as an opportunity for my kids. It is an opportunity for them to earn some money, problem solve, operate machinery, and get a little dirt under their fingernails. And I will say, both kids stepped up to the task in ways I didn’t expect. The day we laid plastic, it was Albert, Gabe, the kids and me. They learned the operation, and were an integral part of getting the job done. In fact, it would have been tough to get the job done without them. Kinda seems weird to say, but true. They worked long days transplanting, and have spend many hours walking the rows, picking weeds, and foliar spraying. I’m really proud at how they have stepped up to the task, and done quality work. Not only do they get to work hard, but they get to have fun doing it! My kids have got to ride quads, use tools, drive a tractor, and on our day off, we got to shoot guns on the property! A lot of this is a new experience for them, and they would not have had the opportunities without the farm. We finished planting all the plants today. Knocked them out in 3 days! It was definiely a slow process with a few long days, but I am proud and thankful for everyone who came and helped.
Albert’s family helped on the first day. We got 22 rows done, in about 10 hours. The reason it took extra long is because we had a team of 6-8 people behind the planters that were diligent to scoop handfuls of soil on the plastic for each plant. It was important to help the plastic stay down during windy periods. After the first day of planting, we actually discovered that we didn’t scoop enough soil on the plastic. When the winds came, some of the plastic in rows 1 and 2 came up and smothered some of our new seedlings. We made sure to make a correction with more soil on the plastic moving forward. We got an early start (about 6am) on day 2, so that Rachel and my mom could help before work. I was also able to recruit the Box family. Day 2: 20 rows. On day 3, the Box family came out again and brought a few homeschool kids. They were a HUGE help, and were able to knock out the rest of the plants (29 rows). The plants were getting hammered by the wind and colder temperatures yesterday. Some of them are bent over, and a small percentage didn’t make it. But the majority are holding on and look pretty strong. Unfortunately, we still have 4 empty rows. We are going to pick up about 500 more plants from Jeff Whitaker. Hopefully we can find more plants to fill up our empty rows. It is pretty exciting to see all the plants in the ground. I’m really thankful for everyone that helped out. Looking forward to the coming weeks! |
